A City (and a Church) is Built - Nehemiah 3:1-23

 • Joshua Earl • Series: Nehemiah: Renewal of the Remnant

In Nehemiah 3, what looks like a construction log is actually a picture of revival. God awakens His people to treasure Him above all else, and that reclaimed identity moves them to sacrificial action. Jesus is still building His church today, and He does it by renewing our vision of His glory and mobilizing every kind of person to play a part in His work! Sermon application questions for your week: 1. What’s something that makes it hard for you to start a big task God is calling you to? What do you think might change if you believed God was already at work ahead of you? 2. What do you think it means that God uses all kinds of people to build His church? Can you think of ways God might want to use you at Grace City Church?
3. Nehemiah 3 shows people building next to their own homes. Why do you think that matters? What are some “right next to us” places or people God may be calling us to love or serve? 4. Nehemiah’s list contains the names of ordinary people doing ordinary tasks. Why do you think God included it in the Bible? What does that tell us about how God sees everyday faithfulness? 5. Nehemiah 3 shows everyone working side by side to rebuild the wall. Why do you think God wants us to follow Him together rather than on our own? What’s one way we can help each other stay faithful this week?
